Every sales review starts with a number. Sales are up, sales are down, a territory missed its target. Everyone looks at the same figure, and everyone has a reason for it.
The trouble is that a number cannot be managed. You can’t tell it to go up. By the time it shows up in a report, the month that produced it is already over.
What sits behind the number
Behind every sales figure there are four everyday efforts:
- Shop visits. Did the booker reach the right shops?
- Order booking. Did those visits turn into orders?
- Stock delivery. Did the orders reach the shops?
- Shelf display. Did the product sit where buyers decide?
Each one can be planned, checked and corrected while there is still time in the month. The result is simply what these efforts add up to.
Results are measured. Effort is managed.
Why this changes the review
When a review starts from effort, the conversation changes. Instead of “why are sales down?”, the question becomes “which effort moved first?”. That question has an answer: a route that skips shops, a distributor that delivers short, a shelf that drifted from its standard.
Those are things a manager can fix this week. And when the effort is fixed, the number follows.
Seeing the effort
None of this works if the effort is invisible. That is the job of SELL 360: record every visit, order, delivery and shelf check where it happens, and bring it together in one place, so the effort behind the number is there to see.
